LET LIFE HAPPEN
ISAAC'S BAR, BOOK 1
Everyone has that one friend—the ridiculously hot one you swear you would never develop feelings for. Mostly, because it would end in heartbreak. When Aiden Chad walks into a room, people stop and watch him. Who wouldn’t stop and stare at the Sigma President with his chiseled jaw and perfect smile…and those abs. There’s something about a player like Aiden that makes girls say, “I can change him.” On the other hand, Jenna Smithson has never been like most girls. Why would she start now? As a bartender at the local, college bar, she has seen it unravel enough times to know exactly how it always ends. For the first time in his life, Aiden encounters a girl who won’t fall at his knees or fall into bed with him. Instead, Jenna gives him a dosage of good, genuine friendship and treats him like a normal person. She calls him out on his shit and his charm gets him nowhere. And this, this makes him question his entire lifestyle. Her sassy attitude and foul mouth, combined with his attitude and humor, create sparks hotter than the Phoenix sun they live under. |

FUN FACTS
One of my favorite things to do is read about the hows and whys of stories I've read. I would scour through author's pages to find out where they got motivation or where the story came from. I had a TON of fun writing Let Life Happen and included some fun and/or random facts that I came across during the story.
Character's Names
Every character name, except Jenna and Aiden, came from someone I know or have taught. The personality and physical resemblance is entirely made up in my head, I only used the name. So, if you know me and found your name in the story... chances are it might be because you were such an awesome influence!
Also, Mike is a rough interpretation of someone in my family. I used direct quotes that he has said to me, my husband, and my brother as we used to grab breakfast in the mornings once a week.
Theme Songs
Every story I've ever written--good, bad, published, or sitting in a jump drive going nowhere all has a theme song or two that was basically put on repeat as I wrote. There were four songs that helped form the scenes and characteristics of Jenna and Aiden.
"Shut up and Dance"-- Walk the Moon
"Honey I'm Good" -- Andy Grammar
"Blank Space" -- Taylor Swift
"Feel Again" -- One Republic
Restaurants
Most of the places Jenna and Aiden go are based more or less on real venues, except Isaac's Bar. That is entirely made up in my head. The one place I had to mention by name is Pomo's...It is the best, mouth-watering, authentic pizza place in Phoenix. If you are in the area, try it. Trust me.
Side note: rickshaws are a real thing. They are all over Phoenix and some have disco lights and bumpin' music. Jenna would NEVER go on one of those even though I wanted her to so badly.
Making Of...
The entire story came to me one night as I was walking my black lab. The street we were walking on had nice apartments on one side, and luxurious, super fancy condos on the other. These condos have windows for days and are insanely expensive and someone was standing on their amazing balcony talking on the phone. It made me think how two people who came from totally different life styles would meet. Would it be awkward? Could they find middle ground? Hence, Jenna and Aiden came into my head shortly after.
