Whiskey Surprises, my latest release, takes place during a car show that is based on a very real event I had the pleasure of working at for four summers. I wanted to share five fun and true facts about the car show that are featured in Whiskey Surprises. I should note, all of the people in the story are in NO way based on anybody who I know or worked with except the two jolly older gentleman who were my two FAVORITE people during the show. They will never know I featured them in an erotic story and it will stay that way until the end of time. Fact #1: Part of my job was to spray paint HUNDREDS of parking spots on scorching hot gravel in the midwest summer heat. One summer, we spent hours painting them for it to rain and wash away the next day. To commiserate, we drank whiskey that night and did it all again the next day. Fact #2: One year, an entire truck of Corvettes arrived and I happened to be near-by and able to drive stick shift so I helped back them off a truck and park them. These were the NICEST vehicles I have ever been around or in and it was an amazingly terrifying experience. Fact #3: I didn't park one of those said Corvettes with the stick in Reverse and the car died overnight. I got so much shit for it. Fact #4: There is a scene in the story where the heroine and hero sneak off to a secret beer shake that is hidden off a golf course. This is a very real place that we found one summer. I will not specify if we went there...just that we "found" it. Fact#5: For the sake of the story, the drama was amped up but in reality, the people working this show work their asses off despite all the crazy hiccups that happen. A scene in the story where a truck got stuck in mud and left a gaping hole in the landscape? True. A rainstorm that took down tents? Also true. Vendors getting cranky about missing a half an inch of their spot? Very true. Bonus fact: The entire "found family" aspect of this story is 100% based on the work fam found while working this show. Nights were spent drinking shitty beer/whiskey around a fire and staying up way too late and working 18 hour days. Yes this story is a steamy romance with two characters who I kinda fell in love with, but it is also a love story to the time spent during those four summers. Want to read the first scene where our two characters meet? Chapter One PreviewIt didn’t matter how many damn to-do lists I had, or how many of those items I checked off—I could never sleep the night before the big event. My Rusty Nail, the best drink ever created, burned my throat in the perfect way and the adorable bartender slid me my second glass. He defined eye-candy with his plucked eyebrows, chiseled jaw and styled hair, a bit too young for the looks he was throwing my way. I had no issues with being a cougar, but there were lines I wouldn’t cross. He was one of them. Want to see what happens next? You can order Whiskey Surprises at the following locations!
